Christmas was fine. Christmas dinner was actually fun with all the odd people who turn up. The whole thing is sort of like a movie, they're weird enough to be in a movie.
What would Barbara Do is the most amazing book. That is all.
Because I never do surveys.

fabala_belle1. Was 2007 a good year for you?
I guess so. Things have happened that have changed my life, so yes, good. I’m just in a bad mood at the moment so I shouldn’t let that cloud everything else.
2. What was your favourite moment of the year?
Stage door after Wicked was really awesome, but I’m going to go with fourth of July. I was with people I adore, it was raining and wasn’t cold, there were shiny things and I was really, really hyper. And it was so unexpectedly fun.
3. What was your least favourite moment of the year?
I don’t know, I block out things I don’t like. Leaving Bryn Mawr really sucked. Getting home and realizing that home didn’t feel like home made me pretty miserable. And that one time in February that I don’t want to talk about.
4. What are your plans for 2008?
Graduating high school, going to Bryn Mawr, maybe seeing Wicked again. Turning eighteen. Maybe being less unsocial. Lots more writing time. Maybe an internship over the summer.
5. What countries did you visit?
Just here. But New York City was kind of like another country. So was Long Island for that matter.
6. What date in 2007 will remain etched in your memory?
July 20, seeing Wicked.
7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting into Writing for College. Top five at the national qualifying tournament was pretty cool. Getting into Bryn Mawr. Seeing as many shows as I did. Meeting new people, because I really suck at that.
8. What was your biggest failure?
Opportunities I didn’t take, new experiences I missed, people I didn’t meet. My betta died.
9. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
I got the flu in February. That was fun. Haven’t been that sick in a while. Apparently, while I was in the drugged out haze, I wrote a crazy ass will. I found it after I was better, was appalled and deleted it.
10. What was the best thing you bought?
My coffee cup. I use it every day.
11. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My own. Greg Ryan and Hope Solo. Other people. They know who they are.
12. Where did most of your money go?
Starbucks.
13. What did you get really really really excited about?
Wicked! Shoshana Bean concert. World Cup. Getting into Bryn Mawr. Julia Murney. Kendra Kassebaum. Julia Murney’s Liza voice.
14. What songs will always remind you of 2007?
Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray reminds me of New York. Dick in a Box for reasons the WFC girls know very well. Anything from Hair or Class Act.
15. Compared to this time last year are you:
a) Fatter or thinner? No idea, I don’t keep track. Guessing thinner because the dress pants I bought this time last year are now too big.
b) Happier or sadder? Probably, in the grand scheme of things, tonight not included, I’m happier. I feel like I have direction, or at least can see a path, I just have to get to it. I feel like I’m starting to figure things out, very, very slowly.
c) Richer or poorer? Definitely poorer, aquariums are an expensive hobby.
16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Reading things that aren’t fic. I love fic but I read too much of it. Playing cello. Creating things that I’ve planned out in my head.
17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Brooding.
18. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent. I got up at five, played Sims for an hour. Opened presents with the parents. Bought things off iTunes. Drove up to Seattle in the snow, spent the evening eating Italian food and conversing with people who are genuinely bizarre. It was fascinating.
19. Which LJ users did you meet for the first time?
Everyone that I haven’t met outside the internet. And everyone has been wonderful, it’s been great.
20. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Yes.
21. How many one night stands?
Just one, at the moment it is very cluttered. The only thing I can see all of is my deck of Marilyn Monroe cards. I think the CD I’ve been looking for is buried under some papers. With my metronome.
22. What was your favourite TV show?
Probably Pushing Daisies. I don’t think Girltrash counts as a TV show because it’s on the internet. I got really into West Wing and Murder in Suburbia too. Oh and 30 Rock too.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yeah, my bio teacher and my TOK teacher.
24. What was/were the best books you read?
Lighthousekeeping by Jeanette Winterson. Some essays by Albert Camus I’m not going to remember the name of. The Death of Artemio Cruz by Carlos Fuentes.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I’m not going to say Wild Party because I got into that at the end of last year. But I got into Julia Murney in general this year. Because I of her I found A Class Act which I fell in love with. Kendra Kassebaum in general.
26. What did you want and get?
Got to go to New York, see Wicked. Got into Bryn Mawr.
27. What did you want and not get?
To figure stuff out, but you never get that. For the team to win the world cup.
28. What was your favourite film this year?
That came out this year or I saw this year? I saw Angels in America, that was brilliant. Wet Hot American Summer. I really liked Hairspray and Enchanted and Loving Annabelle.
29. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I turned seventeen. I really don’t remember what I did. My blog tells me it was D schedule, I watched Rent before school. We played charades during Spanish, Hana tied my shoes together. They gave me free coffee at Starbucks. I got a stapler, the Loving Annabelle DVD and foul weather gear.
30. What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?
More cowbell. Or more Julia Murney.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
I don’t know. I don’t really have a concept of fashion in general. I started wearing a canvas surf jacket everywhere. I stopped caring what people think.
32. What kept you sane?
The things I learned/people I met at Bryn Mawr. Wicked. My dear Queenie.
33. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
Well. Erin Kelly. Kristin Chenoweth. Julia and Kendra. Lately Jill Bennett and her awesomeness. And her underwear.
34. Which political issue stirred you the most?
The port protests here I think. I wasn’t there but it affected how I see what I do with peace activism and that sort of thing and how I see the establishment and bias and our law enforcement. What’s right and what’s slant. And two of my friends were arrested. That stirred me a lot.
35. Who did you miss?
Everyone from WFC. Jordan, Ladessa.
36. Did you treat somebody badly in 2007?
Yes. Sorry.
37. Did somebody treat you badly in 2007?
Probably, I don’t really remember.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year?
There are friends who are entertaining and there are friends who are actually like you and share your interests and passions and they’re who you want to stick with. They’ll inspire you to do great things and give you confidence in yourself.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I’d love for you to see me clear
with all my virtue and my lies
with all the pleasure and the pain around the eyes.
I want the opportunity to show the whole damn display
to open like a flower and know you will stay.
